Hello, I am Liam
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term contract gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Netherlands wasn't part of the long-range plan. Like many expatriate relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, and evolving expectations. Everyday tasks felt more intricate than anticipated.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines solidified. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Bloom Velvet Vista
Most information online was either corporate-level relocation guidance or surface-level tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site exists to bridge that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Netherlands.
